Best-Fit Profile

This role is ideally suited for accomplished academics holding a Master's degree with NET/SET qualification or a Ph.D., specializing in Economics (with focus on Regulatory/Financial Economics) or Environment/Climate/Sustainability Studies. Ideal candidates possess a strong track record in research and teaching quantitative methods, are prepared to engage in interdisciplinary academic environments, and are keen to contribute to policy-oriented research within the habitat sector. Familiarity with relevant subject areas like regulatory policies, urban economics, or climate science is highly valued.

Important Considerations

Individuals without a Master's degree or Ph.D., or those who have not cleared the National Eligibility Test (NET)/SLET/SET (unless Ph.D. qualified under UGC regulations) should not apply. Those seeking permanent employment will find this position unsuitable, as it is offered on a one-year contract basis, though with a possibility of extension. Candidates who prefer working in a siloed academic environment rather than an interdisciplinary setting may also find this role less appealing.

Career Impact

Working as an Assistant Professor at the Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), a highly reputed Deemed University under the Ministry of Education, Government of India, offers significant academic prestige and career growth. These roles provide excellent opportunities for impactful research, teaching at postgraduate levels, and engagement with policy development. The contract may be extended based on performance and funding, allowing for longer-term involvement in a leading institution focused on social sciences and habitat studies.
