- Master's Degree: A Master's degree in History, Ancient Indian History, Culture & Archaeology (A.I.H.C.), or Archaeology with a minimum of 55% marks. A 5% relaxation in marks is provided for SC-ST Candidates.
- NET/PhD Qualification: Candidates must have cleared the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by the UGC, CSIR, or an equivalent test accredited by the UGC (like SLET/SET), or possess a PhD degree.
Desirable Qualifications: Good understanding of field archaeology, art and architecture, English writing skills, and computer knowledge.
