Candidates must possess essential eligibility criteria as per UGC Regulations, 2018 (and subsequent amendments, 2021) for direct recruitment to teaching positions. Key requirements are:
- Master's Degree: A Master's degree with at least 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point scale) in the concerned/relevant/allied subject from an Indian or accredited foreign university. A relaxation of 5% in marks is allowed for SC/ST/OBC (Non-creamy Layer)/PwD categories.
- Ph.D. Degree: Mandatory for Professor and Associate Professor positions. For Assistant Professor positions in Universities, a Ph.D. degree is mandatory for direct recruitment with effect from July 1, 2021, as per UGC Regulations, 2018.
- National Eligibility Test (NET)/SLET/SET: Candidates must have cleared NET conducted by UGC or CSIR, or a similar test accredited by UGC (like SLET/SET), unless exempted by specific Ph.D. regulations (e.g., Ph.D. awarded as per UGC Regulations 2009/2016). NET/SLET/SET is not required for Master's Programmes in disciplines where these tests are not conducted.
