Ministry of Home Affairs 2026 Recruitment: 2 Police Advisers for UN Office in African Union (P-4 Level Secondment)

This role is ideally suited for active-duty Indian Police Service (IPS) or equivalent officers holding the rank of Superintendent of Police (SP) or Deputy Inspector General (DIG). The ideal candidate will possess an advanced university degree in a relevant field (Law, Criminal Justice, Police Sciences) and at least 7-9 years of progressive experience in law enforcement, with a significant portion at the policy-making level. Experience in strategic planning, police management, capacity building, and potentially prior international or UN assignments would be highly advantageous. Demonstrated commitment to human rights and strong communication skills are essential for these advisory roles within the United Nations Office in the African Union.

Candidates who do not possess the required minimum rank (SP/DIG equivalent) or the stipulated years of active police service experience, particularly at the policy-making level, should not apply. Those lacking a relevant advanced university degree (unless compensated by 9+ years of experience with a bachelor's degree) or graduation from a recognized police academy will not be considered. Crucially, any officer without the necessary Vigilance and Cadre Clearances, or who submits their application directly instead of through the proper governmental channels (Home Department/Head of Organization), will have their nomination summarily rejected.
