Best-Fit Profile

This role is ideal for experienced legal professionals with a strong background in corporate, government, or PSU legal affairs, particularly those familiar with legal documentation, contract management, and regulatory frameworks relevant to start-ups, MSMEs, and government departments. Candidates with an LLM and 2+ years of experience, or an LLB with 4+ years of experience, who are under 30 years of age and seeking a challenging contractual role in the defence innovation ecosystem, will find this position suitable. The ability to work on a full-time, contract basis in New Delhi and contribute to national defence initiatives is key.

Important Considerations

Individuals seeking permanent government employment or roles with less than 2-4 years of relevant post-qualification legal experience should not apply. Those above 30 years of age as on August 10, 2026, are also ineligible. Candidates expecting a work experience certificate if leaving before contract completion, or those unwilling to commit to full-time engagement without external remunerative commitments, will find this role unsuitable. Applicants looking for a high-volume recruitment drive should note this is for a single, specialized position.

Career Impact

The Defence Innovation Organisation (DIO) operates under the Ministry of Defence, Government of India, offering a highly prestigious platform to contribute to national defence and aerospace innovation. While a contractual role, it provides significant exposure to cutting-edge legal work within a critical government-backed entity. The experience gained here could be invaluable for future opportunities in specialized legal fields within government or corporate sectors, particularly for those passionate about defence technology and national development.
