Surveyor

This paper will cover general knowledge related to current events, daily observations, an overview of the Indian Constitution, Indian History (with specific reference to Karnataka), Indian Geography (with specific reference to Karnataka), State and Regional Administration, Rural Development, Panchayat Raj institutions, rural cooperative initiatives, economic development of Karnataka, and environmental issues and development in Karnataka.

This paper will assess knowledge in specific subjects relevant to the Surveyor role. The syllabus includes:

• Mathematics (40%): Covers Number System (Squares, Square Roots, Cubes, Cube Roots), Set Theory, Sequences, Matrices, Permutations and Combinations, Statistics (Frequency Distribution, Measures of Central Tendency, Standard Deviation), H.C.F. and L.C.M., Algebra (Basics, Multiplication of Algebraic Expressions, Linear Equations, Quadratic Equations, Factorization, HCF & LCM of Binomials and Trinomials), and Geometry (Axioms, Postulates, Theorems, Polygons, Triangles, Congruence, Concurrent Lines, Quadrilaterals, Circles, Theorems on Parallelograms, Mid Point Theorem, Areas, Cyclic Quadrilaterals, Surface Areas and Volumes of Solids, Theorems on Triangles and Circles, Right Angle Triangle).
• Physics (10%): Topics include Magnetism (Natural and Artificial Magnets, Magnetic Field, Substances, Preparation, Uses, Magnetic Lines of Force, Electro-magnetism, Instruments), Electricity (Units, Practical Unit, Effects of Current, Electric Fuse), Electromagnetic Radiation (Introduction, Properties, Spectrum, Uses), Electronics (Radio, Television), Dynamics (Motion, Distance, Speed, Acceleration, Graphic Representation, Periodic Motion, Simple Pendulum, Newton's Laws), Heat (Nature, Measurement, Units, Changes of State, Effects), Light (Refraction, Reflection, Lenses, Optical Instruments), Sound (Ultrasonic Sound, Sonar, Doppler Effect), Gravitation (Universal Law, Gravity near Earth, Weight, Weightlessness).
• Geography (10%): Focuses on The Earth (Universe, Shape, Axis, Rotation, Revolution, Latitudes, Longitudes, Time Zones, International Dateline), The Lithosphere (Layers, Rocks, Earthquakes, Volcanoes), Maps (Characteristics, Types), Physical Features of India (Location, Extent, Mountains, Plateaus, Coastal Plains, Rivers, Lakes).
• Modern Methods of Surveying (20%): Includes Photogrammetry and Aerial Survey (Introduction, principles, methods, applications, Satellite Imagery, Image Processing, Softwares), Remote Sensing (Principles, EMR types, Resolutions, LIDAR), Global Positioning Systems (GPS) (Definition, principles, applications), Geographical Information System (GIS) (Introduction, principles, components), Advanced Positioning and Satellite Communication Technology (GPS, DGPS, GNSS Rovers, Satellite Communication Technology, Related Softwares).
• Computer Applications (20%): Covers MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), AutoCAD (Introduction, commands, 2D/3D elements, DXF files), GIS Softwares and their Applications (Environment, open-source desktop GIS, Geo Server, Post GIS), and Basics of Software Solutions and Land Records Information Technology (SDLC, Web Application Development, Mobile App Development, State Data Centre, API, UX).

Negative Marking: There will be a negative marking of 0.25 marks for every incorrect answer. For questions not attempted (fifth option shaded), 0.25 marks will also be deducted.
