Candidates must be literate, preferably matriculate, with good comprehension skills and the ability to speak, read, and write Odia language. Applicants should have completed 18 years of age as on the date of advertisement. The selection emphasizes a mindset geared towards assisting the needy and uplifting marginalized sections of society.
Groups from whom Para-Legal Volunteers can be selected include:- Teachers (including retired teachers)
- Retired Government servants and senior citizens
- M.S.W students and teachers
- Anganwadi Workers
- Doctors/Physicians
- Students & Law Students (until they enroll as lawyers)
- Members of non-political, service-oriented NGOs and Clubs
- Members of Women Neighborhood Groups, Maithri Sanghams, and other self-help groups (including marginalized/vulnerable groups)
- Educated prisoners with good behavior serving long-term sentences
- Any other person deemed fit by the District Legal Services Authority
