Best-Fit Profile

This role is ideal for PhD holders in specialized fields like Hydrology, Hydrogeology, Geo-informatics, Water Resources, Remote Sensing, GIS, Civil Engineering, or Geophysics, who possess strong numerical modelling skills. Candidates with practical experience in integrated hydrological modeling tools (SWAT-MODFLOW/FEFLOW-MIKESHE) and Python programming will be highly preferred. The position suits individuals looking for a short-term contractual research opportunity within a reputable government institution.

Important Considerations

Candidates without a PhD in the specified disciplines or lacking numerical modelling expertise should not apply. Those seeking permanent government employment or roles with extensive long-term career progression and large team management responsibilities may find this temporary, project-specific role unsuitable.

Career Impact

The National Institute of Hydrology (NIH) is a well-respected Government of India society known for its research in water resources. While this is a contractual project-based role, it offers a valuable opportunity to contribute to a significant research project on salinity ingress in a crucial region. The experience gained at NIH would enhance one's academic and research credentials within the scientific community, potentially opening doors for future research roles.
