Best-Fit Profile
This role is ideal for experienced social workers, psychologists, or legal professionals with a strong background in child rights and protection. Candidates should be passionate about working with vulnerable children, possess excellent communication and counseling skills, and be committed to upholding the rights and well-being of victims under the POCSO Act. A minimum of three years' experience in relevant fields is essential, alongside a graduate degree with a diploma in child rights/counseling or a postgraduate degree in related disciplines. The position offers an opportunity to serve at the district level, contributing directly to the welfare of children in judicial processes.
Important Considerations
Individuals seeking a permanent, salaried government position should not apply, as this is an empanelment-based role offering remuneration per case for a contractual period of two years. Those without the specified educational qualifications or minimum three years of relevant experience will not be considered. Candidates with any criminal record or history of moral turpitude are strictly ineligible. The role demands significant emotional resilience and a strong ethical compass, making it unsuitable for those unprepared for sensitive cases involving child sexual offenses.
Career Impact
Working with the District Child Protection Unit (DCPU) under the Social Welfare Department, Government of Bihar, in a role governed by the POCSO Act, offers a high degree of institutional relevance and social impact. While it is a contractual, per-case remuneration model rather than a traditional salaried government job, the experience gained in supporting child victims through legal processes is highly specialized and valuable. It provides a platform to contribute significantly to the child protection ecosystem in Bihar, aligning with national guidelines from NCPCR and Supreme Court directives. Growth would involve deepening expertise in child protection law and advocacy, potentially leading to more senior roles in NGOs or government advisory positions related to child welfare.
