The Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), established in 1936, is a Deemed University under Section 3 of the UGC Act 1956 and operates as a Grant-in-Aid Institute under the Ministry of Education, Government of India. Recognized as a Grade I University by NAAC, TISS has four campuses across Mumbai (main campus), Hyderabad, Guwahati, and Tuljapur. It offers a wide array of Undergraduate, Masters', and Ph.D. programmes in socially relevant inter-disciplinary areas of applied Social Sciences.
The School of Skill Education, founded in 2011, is dedicated to providing specialized skill education and training to youth. Its vision is to equip young people with industry-relevant skills for better job opportunities, sustainable incomes, and to contribute to the nation's economic growth. The school implements unique industry-academia blended, work-integrated skill training programmes that prioritize job-specific skill development, aligning with National Occupational Standards (NOS).
