Assam University Silchar Recruitment 2026: 2 Vacancies for Chair Professor & Assistant Professor

• For Chair Professor:
  • An eminent scholar with a Ph.D. degree in the concerned/allied/relevant discipline, possessing a high-quality published work with a minimum of 10 research publications in peer-reviewed or UGC-listed journals, and a total research score of 120 as per Appendix II, Table 2. Specialization in Dr. Ambedkar's Thought & Philosophy/ Education, Social justice/Inclusion/Harmony is desirable.
  • Alternatively, an outstanding professional with a Ph.D. Degree in relevant/allied/applied disciplines, from academic institutions (not included in A above) or industry, who has made significant contributions to the knowledge in the concerned/allied/relevant discipline, supported by documentary evidence.
• For Assistant Professor:
  • A Master's degree with 55% marks (or an equivalent grade) in a concerned/relevant/allied subject from an Indian University or an equivalent degree from an accredited foreign university.
  • Candidates must have cleared the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by the UGC or the CSIR, or a similar test accredited by the UGC (like SLET/SET).
  • Candidates who have been awarded a Ph.D. Degree in accordance with the UGC Regulations, 2009 or 2016 and their amendments, are exempted from NET/SLET/SET.

A relaxation of 5% in eligibility marks (from 55% to 50%) is provided for SC/ST/Differently-abled (Physically and visually differently-abled)/Other Backward Classes (OBC) (Non-creamy layer) categories for teaching posts at the Graduate and Master's level, for assessing good academic record and for Ph.D. degree holders who obtained their Master's Degree prior to 19th September, 1991.
