The selection process involves a Written Competitive Examination followed by Physical Standards and Physical Efficiency Tests.

• Preliminary Examination: One paper of 200 marks with 100 multiple-choice questions, to be completed in 2 hours. It covers General Knowledge and Current Affairs. Candidates must score at least 30% to qualify for the Main Examination. 20 times the number of vacancies will be selected for the Main Exam.
• Main Examination: Consists of two papers:
  • Paper 1 (General Hindi): 200 marks, 100 multiple-choice questions, 2 hours duration. A minimum of 30% marks is mandatory for qualification, but these marks will not be considered for merit.
  • Paper 2 (General Studies): 200 marks, 100 multiple-choice questions, 2 hours duration. Covers General Studies, General Science, Civics, Indian History, Indian Geography, Mathematics, and Mental Ability.
• Negative Marking: 0.2 marks will be deducted for each incorrect answer in both preliminary and main examinations.
• 6 times the number of vacancies will be selected for the Physical Efficiency Test based on merit in the Main Written Examination.

• Height:
  • General/Backward Class Males: Minimum 165 cm
  • Extremely Backward Class/SC/ST Males: Minimum 160 cm
  • All Female Categories: Minimum 155 cm
• Chest (Males Only):
  • General/Backward Class/Extremely Backward Class: Unexpanded 81 cm (min), Expanded 86 cm (min). A minimum expansion of 5 cm is mandatory.
  • SC/ST: Unexpanded 79 cm (min), Expanded 84 cm (min). A minimum expansion of 5 cm is mandatory.
• Weight (Females Only): Minimum 48 kg.
• Physical standards for Third Gender candidates will be similar to those for Backward Class candidates.

• Race:
  • Males: 1 mile (1.6 km) in 6 minutes 30 seconds.
  • Females: 1 km in 6 minutes.
• High Jump:
  • Males: Minimum 4 feet.
  • Females: Minimum 3 feet.
• Long Jump:
  • Males: Minimum 12 feet.
  • Females: Minimum 9 feet.
• Shot Put:
  • Males: 16 pounds, minimum 16 feet throw.
  • Females: 12 pounds, minimum 10 feet throw.
• Candidates must qualify in all physical events. A maximum of three attempts will be given for High Jump, Long Jump, and Shot Put.

Candidates must apply online through the official website https://bpssc.bihar.gov.in. The application process involves two parts:

• Part 1: Registration and Fee Payment: Applicants need a valid mobile number and email ID for registration. Personal details including name, nationality, domicile of Bihar, reservation category, gender, and date of birth must be correctly entered. After successful registration, the application fee must be paid online. An SMS/email with registration number and password will be sent. Before payment, candidates have the option to 'Edit' their details.
• Part 2: Filling Application Form: After successful registration and payment, candidates must log in using their registration number and password. They need to fill in additional details like parent's name, address, and educational qualifications. A colored photograph (taken within two months with a white background, 15-25 KB, .jpg/.jpeg/.gif format) and separate signatures in English and Hindi (black or blue ink on a white background, 15-25 KB, .jpg/.jpeg/.gif format) must be uploaded.
• Candidates are advised to read all instructions thoroughly before applying and ensure all information provided is accurate. Any false information will lead to cancellation of candidature and potential legal action.
• Only one application per candidate is allowed; multiple applications will result in rejection of all submissions.
• After final submission, applicants should print out the Acknowledgement (with photo) for future reference and correspondence.
