Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

The essential educational qualifications vary by post. Generally, candidates are required to possess a M.E./M.Tech. in various engineering or science disciplines (e.g., Metallurgy, Materials Science, Mechanical, Computational Science, AI, Data Science, Instrumentation, Electronics, Mechatronics, Design, Thermal, Manufacturing, Production, Civil, Construction, Structural, Environmental, Chemical, Computer Science, Information Technology, Polymer Science & Technology, Mineral, Energy Engineering) or an equivalent degree. Alternatively, a Ph.D. in related science or engineering disciplines (or thesis submitted) is often accepted. For specific Senior Scientist posts (SS-03), a B.Tech./M.Sc. with MBA or a Post Graduate Degree in IP Law is also an essential qualification. Candidates must have acquired the minimum prescribed qualifications by the last date of online application. For detailed, post-specific qualifications, please refer to the official notification.

Age Limit Details

The age of the applicant should not be below 18 years as on the last date of submission of the online application. The upper age limit is 32 years for Scientist (Level 11) and 37 years for Senior Scientist (Level 12). Age relaxations are applicable as per Government of India rules:
  • SC/ST: 5 years relaxation.
  • OBC (NCL): 3 years relaxation.
  • PwBD: 10 years relaxation (total 15 years for SC/ST-PwBD, 13 years for OBC-PwBD).
  • Widows/Divorced Women/Judicially Separated Women (not remarried): Up to 35 years (40 years for SC/ST, 38 years for OBC) for posts reserved for them.
  • Council/Government/Autonomous Bodies/Public Sector Employees: Up to 5 years relaxation under specific conditions.
For exceptionally meritorious candidates, age, educational qualification, and/or experience relaxations may be considered with prior approval of DG, CSIR.

Salary & Pay Scale

Total Emoluments mean approximate total emoluments on minimum of Pay Level inclusive of Basic Pay, Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), Transport Allowance (TA) etc. in Class 'Y' City. The benefits under Council service include usual allowances as admissible to central government employees, medical expenses reimbursement, Leave Travel Concession, Children's Education Allowances, and applicability of New Pension Scheme (NPS) 2004.

Application Fee

Candidates are required to pay an application fee of Rs. 500/-. However, no fee is payable for candidates belonging to SC/ST/PwBD/Women/Ex-Servicemen categories, subject to uploading of relevant documents. Applications submitted without the prescribed fee will be summarily rejected.
