Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

Candidates must possess either a Ph.D. in Science (Chemistry / Chemical Sciences / Marine Biology / Marine Microbiology / Marine Sciences or equivalent) or an M.E./M.Tech. in specific engineering disciplines. These include Chemical Engineering, Metallurgical/Material Science/Engineering, Thermal/Fluid Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering (with specialization in Thermal/Fluid Engineering). Qualifications should be from a recognized university or institute. Equivalence claims must be supported by official documentation.

Age Limit Details

The upper age limit is 32 years, calculated as on the last date of online application submission (January 12, 2026). Age relaxation of 5 years is applicable for Scheduled Caste (SC) / Scheduled Tribe (ST) candidates and 3 years for Other Backward Class (OBC-NCL) candidates, for posts reserved for their respective categories. Departmental employees (Council/Government/Autonomous Bodies/Public Sector) with 3 years of continuous service are eligible for up to 5 years relaxation (maximum 10 years for SC/ST, 8 years for OBC-NCL). Widows, divorced women, and judicially separated women (who have not remarried) are eligible for age relaxation up to 35 years (40 years for SC/ST). Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) receive a 10-year age relaxation.

Salary & Pay Scale

The posts carry usual allowances such as Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), Transport Allowance (TRA) as admissible to central government and CSIR employees. Employees are entitled to accommodation under CSIR (Residence Allotment) Rules, subject to availability, with HRA not provided if council or government accommodation is utilized. Additional benefits include reimbursement of Medical Expenses, Leave Travel Concession, and Children's Education Allowances as per CSIR/Govt. of India rules. Selected candidates will be governed by the 'National Pension System' or Extant Pension System. CSIR offers excellent opportunities for career advancement for Scientists under an Assessment Promotion scheme.

Application Fee

An application fee of Rs. 500/- is required for general candidates. However, SC, ST, PwBD, Women, and Ex-Servicemen candidates are exempted from paying the application fee, subject to uploading relevant documents.
