Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

Applicants must be Ph.D degree holders within three years of the award of the degree, or have submitted their Ph.D thesis.
Candidates who are about to submit their thesis are also eligible, provided the thesis is submitted before the award offer's validity expires.
A proven research record with publications in high-impact-factor SCI journals is required.
The fellowship is open to Indian nationals, PIOs, and OCIs. Up to 20% of fellowships may be offered to foreign nationals.

Age Limit Details

The maximum age limit is 35 years. Age relaxation is applicable as follows:

5 years for SC/ST, Physically disabled, and women candidates.
3 years for OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) candidates.

The crucial date for calculating the age limit is the last date of application.

Eligible candidates can apply in the prescribed format, which is available on the institute's website. The application process is as follows:

The application form can be downloaded from the official website http://www.diat.ac.in.
The following documents must be submitted along with the application:
- Dually filled Application form
- Curriculum Vitae with a complete list of publications
- PDF files of at least two (and up to five) important publications
- A proposed research plan (up to 500 words)
- Copy of PhD degree certificate, provisional certificate, or thesis submission certificate
The filled application form must be sent in a sealed envelope, superscribed 'Application for Admission to Post Doctoral Programme in the Department / School of __________' to the following address:
Address: The Joint Registrar (Academics), Defence Institute of Advanced Technology, Girinagar, Pune 411025.
The application must reach DIAT by January 27, 2026.
Foreign applicants have the option to submit their application form via email to [email protected].

Note: Applications can be submitted at any time of the year. Selections are made twice a year, in June and December.
