This role is most suitable for experienced Senior Civil Judges within the Karnataka Judicial Service who meet specific service criteria: a minimum of 3 years as a Senior Civil Judge and a total of 7 years in the Civil Judge & Senior Civil Judge cadre. Candidates must be at least 35 years old and keen on career advancement to the District Judge cadre through a competitive examination, provided they have not exhausted their three permissible attempts for the LDCE.

Candidates who are not currently serving as Senior Civil Judges in Karnataka, do not possess the mandated 3 years of service as a Senior Civil Judge, or lack the overall 7 years of judicial service in the specified cadres should not apply. Individuals under the age of 35 as of August 28, 2026, or those who have already made three attempts at the Limited Departmental Competitive Examination will also be ineligible.
