The Flood and River Erosion Management Agency of Assam (FREMAA) is an autonomous society of the Government of Assam. It serves as the implementing agency for the World Bank-aided "Assam Integrated River Basin Management Project (AIRBMP)". FREMAA's mission, along with the Water Resources Department (WRD) and Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA), is to promote Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) and Disaster Risk Management (DRM) to enhance climate-resilient economic growth in Assam.
A key initiative under FREMAA is the Hydro-Informatics Unit (HIU), a specialized scientific unit of the Water Resources Department, focused on developing and operationalizing flood forecasting systems, conducting water resources assessments, and developing baseline information for Integrated Flood Risk Management Planning for the State of Assam.
