IIT (BHU) Varanasi Recruitment 2026 – Apply for Junior Research Fellow Post (Ministry of Mines Project)

Essential Qualifications & Project Competencies:
• Engineering Track: M.Tech in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related engineering subjects with a minimum CGPA/CPI of 7.0 on a 10-point scale (or equivalent first class).
• Sciences Track: M.Sc. in Chemistry or Physics from a recognized University/Institute, having basic fundamental knowledge of electrochemistry.
• Desirable Skill: Hands-on experimental experience in operating electrochemical workstations, specifically Potentiostat / Galvanostat (cyclic voltammetry, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, chronoamperometry).
• Project Focus: Reagent-free single-cell electrochemical extraction and sequential recovery of critical minerals (Lithium, Cobalt, Nickel, Manganese) from spent Lithium-Ion Battery (LIB) black mass, coupled with India-specific Life Cycle Assessment (LCA).

Upper age limit is 28 years as on the date of advertisement (01 September 2026). Age relaxation for Female, SC, ST, OBC, and Physically Handicapped candidates admissible as per Government of India norms (up to 5 years for SC/ST/Female/PwD and 3 years for OBC).
