Best-Fit Profile

This role is ideal for experienced Indian lawyers (30-50 years old) with a Graduate or Postgraduate degree in Law (LLB/LLM) and at least 5 years of specialized experience in drafting and amending legislation. Candidates should possess excellent command of English and Hindi, strong communication skills, and computer proficiency. Preference will be given to those with a background in legal research and administration-related issues, seeking a full-time contractual engagement with the Ministry of External Affairs.

Important Considerations

Candidates under 30 or over 50 years of age, those without the specified legal qualifications (LLB/LLM), or lacking the minimum 5 years of relevant experience in legislative drafting should not apply. Individuals expecting a permanent government position with traditional benefits like PF, Pension, HRA, or promotion opportunities should also reconsider, as this is a strictly contractual, non-beneficiary role. Aspirants seeking multiple vacancies will find this unsuitable as only one position is available.

Career Impact

This is a highly prestigious opportunity to serve as a Consultant within the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), a critical central government body handling India's foreign policy. While a contractual position, it offers significant exposure to high-level legislative and policy matters within the Passport Seva Programme Division. The role provides valuable experience in a central government setup and enhances professional credentials within legal and administrative circles, offering a unique opportunity to contribute to national governance.
