Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

  • Community Health Officers (CHO) (B.Sc Nurses): B.SC Nurses with Integrated course of BPCCHN OR General Nursing & Midwifery/ Post basic B.SC/ B.SC Nursing. Must have registration certificate/ provisional certificate from West Bengal Nursing Council (WBNC).
  • Community Health Officers (CHO) (BAMS candidates): Passed BAMS from a recognized Institute/University. Must have registration certificate/ provisional certificate from Paschim Banga Ayurved Parisad (West Bengal Ayurved Council).
  • Community Nurse & Staff Nurse: GNM from any institution recognized by Nursing council or West Bengal Nursing council. Community Nurse also requires 1 month training in Psychiatric nursing.
  • Psychiatric Nurse: B.SC in Psychiatric Nursing/ M.SC in Psychiatric Nursing/DPN.
  • TBHV: Graduate in Science and a Certificate course in computer operations (Minimum two months).
  • Laboratory Technician (NTEP & XVFC): 10+2 (or Class 12) with Physics, Chemistry and Biology (or Mathematics/Biological Science), and a Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology (DMLT) or Diploma in Laboratory Techniques (DLT). Basic computer knowledge for NTEP post.
  • Dental Hygienist: Diploma in Dental Hygienist Course from a DCI recognized institute and valid registration with the West Bengal Dental Council.
  • Statistical Assistant NTEP: Graduate in any discipline, Diploma/Certificate of at least 6 months in computer application, Typing speed of 40 w.p.m. in English and local language, Data entry speed minimum 8000 key depressions/hour, conversant with statistical packages.
  • Counsellor: Bachelor's Degree in Social Work/Sociology/Psychology.
  • Opthalmologist: M.S./M.D. in Ophthalmology OR D.O.M.S./D.O (MCI recognized).
  • Senior Medical Officer & Medical Officer: MBBS degree from an MCI/NMC recognized institution, completed compulsory rotatory internship, and working knowledge in computer.
  • Block Epidemiologist: M.Sc. in Life Science/ Epidemiology OR BAMS/BHMS/BUMS with MPH. Proficiency in advance MS Office.
  • Block Public Health Manager: B.Sc. in Life Science with Post Graduate Degree /Diploma in Management. Proficiency in advance MS Office.
  • Block Data Manager: Graduate from any recognized university with at least 1 year Diploma course in Computer Application from a Govt. registered Institution and working knowledge of computers (MS Word, MS Excel, MS Power Point, MS Access, and Internet).

Age Limit Details

Age limits vary by post. The maximum age for most posts is 40 years, with some medical officer posts extending to 62 years. Minimum age varies from 19 to 22 years depending on the post. Relaxation in age limit for SC/ST/OBC candidates will be applicable as per Government norms. Age calculation is as on 1st April 2025 or 1st January 2025, depending on the post.

Salary & Pay Scale

  • Community Health Officers (CHO) (B.Sc Nurses & BAMS): Rs. 20,000 per month (consolidated) + Rs. 5,000 maximum incentive.
  • Community Nurse, Staff Nurse, Laboratory Technician (NTEP & XVFC), Dental Hygienist, Statistical Assistant, Counsellor, Block Data Manager: Rs. 20,000 - 25,000 per month (consolidated), specific amounts vary by post.
  • TBHV: Rs. 18,000 per month.
  • Block Epidemiologist, Block Public Health Manager: Rs. 35,000 per month.
  • Medical Officer, Senior Medical Officer: Rs. 60,000 per month.
  • Opthalmologist: Rs. 65,000 for PG Diploma candidates and Rs. 70,000 for PG Degree candidates.
  • During training, CHOs (Nurses & BAMS) receive a stipend of Rs. 10,000 per month.
  • A bond agreement requiring payment of Rs. 2 lakhs will be applicable if CHOs fail to serve the bond period after training.
