Section Controller

Candidates appointed as Section Controller will receive an initial pay of Rs. 35,400 as per Level 6 of the 7th CPC Pay Matrix.

• Total Duration: 120 minutes
• Total Questions: 100
• Negative Marking: 1/3 mark deducted for each wrong answer.
• Normalization: Marks will be normalized for CBTs held in multiple shifts.

• Analytical and Mathematical Capability:
  • Mathematics: Number System, Ratio & Proportions, Averages, Percentages, Profit, Loss & Discounts, Time, Speed, Distance, Power & Work, Algebra, Linear Equations, Arithmetic Progression, LCM, HCF, Geometry, Area & Volumes, Probability and Statistics (Basic Level).
  • Data Analysis & Interpretation: Multi-source Data Analysis (examination, analysis, inference from text, tabular data, graphical representations like charts, graphs, scatter plot, pie chart, statistical curve distribution, Venn Diagrams), Data Sufficiency, Data Arrangement.
• Logical Capability:
  • Logical Reasoning: Binary Logic, Syllogism, Clocks & Calendars, Assumptions, Blood Relations, Family Tree, Solving logic-based puzzles.
  • Reading Comprehension: Passages and questions from History, Society, Literature, Science, Environment, Abstract, Mythology, Technology and Culture, focusing on Main Idea, Supporting Idea, Application, Logical Structure, and Style.
• Mental Reasoning: Analogy, Series Completion, Coding-Decoding type questions, Ranking and Arrangements based problems.

• OBC (Non-Creamy Layer): 30%
• SC: 30%
• ST: 25%

PwBD candidates may receive a relaxation of up to 2 marks in minimum qualifying marks in case of shortage.

• Candidates need to secure a minimum T-Score of 42 in each of the test batteries to qualify, irrespective of community or category. No relaxation is permissible in the minimum T-Score.
• There will be no negative marking in CBAT.
• Merit list will be based on 70% weightage for CBT marks and 30% weightage for CBAT marks.

• Candidates must apply ONLINE through the official Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) websites listed in the notification. A unified common RRB website (rrb.indianrailways.gov.in) is also available.
• Candidates who have previously created an account for CENs notified in 2024/2025/2026 should use the same login credentials. New applicants must first 'Create an Account'.
• It is mandatory to have a valid personal mobile number and active email ID for communication.
• Applicants are strongly advised to authenticate their identity using Digi Locker or Aadhaar during the 'Create an Account' stage for a smoother process.
• Candidates can apply to only one RRB; submitting multiple applications will lead to rejection of all applications.
• Fill the application form carefully and accurately. No changes to details entered during account creation (mobile number, email ID, chosen RRB) will be permitted.
• Pay the application fee ONLINE.
• Upload a live photograph of yourself (not a pre-existing one) and your signature as per the specified guidelines (dark clothing, neutral expression, clear face, correct dimensions/size).
• Mandatory scanned documents, such as the SC/ST Certificate for free travel pass, must be kept ready in PDF format for upload.
• A modification window will be available from 2026-08-17 to 2026-08-26 for corrections in the application form (excluding account creation details and chosen RRB), upon payment of a non-refundable modification fee of Rs. 250/-.
• Candidates can also utilize Common Service Centre (CSC) services for online application submission.

Application fees must be paid ONLINE through internet banking, debit/credit cards, or UPI. Bank charges will be borne by the candidate. Fees are refundable only upon appearing in the Computer Based Test (CBT), with applicable bank charges deducted.
