Candidates must be Indian nationals with a consistently good academic record. Eligibility is primarily based on clearing and holding a valid certificate for one of the following national-level examinations:
- UGC-CSIR-NET Fellowship (SLET/Lectureship not eligible)
- JEST Score
- ICMR-JRF Test, ICAR-JRF Test
- DBT-JRB Biotechnology eligibility Test
- GATE Score in Physics/ Chemistry /Life Sciences/ Biotechnology
- JGEEBILS
Academic qualifications include:
- Minimum 60% aggregate in B.Sc. and 55% aggregate in M.Sc. from a recognized University.
- Minimum 55% aggregate in five years integrated M.Sc. / B.S-M.S. (Dual degree).
- Minimum 75% aggregate in a 4-year / 8-semester bachelor's degree (B.S with fourth year Research).
Candidates awaiting final results for M.Sc. Degree, five years integrated M.Sc. / B.S-M.S., or 4-year B.S. (with fourth year Research) may apply, provided they meet interim aggregate marks criteria and complete all academic requirements before 10th August 2026.
Eligible subjects for M.Sc. / Integrated M.Sc. / B.S-M.S. (Dual degree) / B.S. (with fourth year Research) are:

Note: Candidates with M.Sc. / Integrated M.Sc. / B.S-M.S. (Dual degree) / B.S. (with fourth year Research) with specializations in Electronics and Instrumentation, or certain specified areas in Industrial Chemistry, Polymer Chemistry, Textile Chemistry, Environmental Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Petroleum Chemistry, Nanoscience, Nanotechnology, M. Pharm. in Pharmaceutical Analysis (for Chemistry), or Fisheries, Horticulture, Forestry, Agronomy, Animal Husbandry, Bio-analytical Sciences, Polymer Science, Medicine/Medical Science, Pharmaceutical Science and Home Science, or B.Tech./M.Tech. degree in any Life Sciences disciplines (for Life Sciences) are NOT eligible.
