Educational Qualification

Educational credentials and technical shorthand qualifications for Stenographer Grade-III in Bengaluru Rural District Court:
General Education: Passed 2nd PUC (10+2 / Class 12) from Karnataka Pre-University Education Board OR 3-year Diploma in Commercial Practice from the Directorate of Technical Education, or equivalent.
Shorthand & Typewriting Certification: Must have passed Senior Grade Shorthand and Senior Grade Typewriting examinations in BOTH Kannada and English conducted by the Karnataka Department of Public Instruction, or equivalent.
Computer Literacy: Practical knowledge of computer operations and office automation software.
Age Limits: 18 to 40 years for General; 18 to 43 years for Cat-2A/2B/3A/3B; 18 to 45 years for SC/ST/Cat-1 (inclusive of 5-year one-time age relaxation).

Selection will be conducted through direct recruitment under Karnataka Subordinate Courts Rules, 2021:
• Candidates must submit their application online at https://bengalururural.dcourts.gov.in/online-recruitment/ by 15.09.2026 (11:59 PM).
• Candidates will undergo a Shorthand & Typewriting Skill Test: 5-minute dictation in Kannada and English at 120 words per minute, transcribed on computers within 45 minutes (100 marks each, minimum 50 marks required to qualify in each language).
• Candidates will be shortlisted in a 1:5 ratio for an interview (5% weightage). Final merit list is formulated on the basis of qualifying examination percentage, skill test marks, and interview score.
