Best-Fit Profile

This role is ideal for recent B.E./B. Tech (Metallurgical, Materials Science, or Mechanical Engineering) graduates with a First Division and GATE/NET qualification, or M.E./M.Tech/M.S. postgraduates in similar fields. Candidates seeking temporary research experience (up to 4 years) in a DRDO-sponsored project focused on additive manufacturing and metal powders, with the potential to pursue a Ph.D. at IIT (BHU) Varanasi, are particularly well-suited. Strong academic records are essential.

Important Considerations

Individuals seeking permanent government employment should not apply, as this is a temporary position co-terminus with the project. Candidates lacking the specified engineering degrees, First Division academic standing, or the GATE/NET qualification (unless possessing a postgraduate degree in the specified fields) will not meet the essential criteria. Those uninterested in specific research areas like Powder Metallurgy or Additive Manufacturing may also find this role less suitable.

Career Impact

Working as a Junior Research Fellow at IIT (BHU) Varanasi, a premier Institute of Technology, on a DRDO-sponsored project offers significant prestige and exposure. This position provides an excellent opportunity for high-impact research, a competitive stipend, and a clear pathway for pursuing a Ph.D. in Metallurgical Engineering. It is a stepping stone for a career in advanced materials research, both in academia and defense-related industries, significantly enhancing long-term academic and professional growth.
