Best-Fit Profile

This role is ideal for highly motivated candidates holding a 1st class B.Tech in Civil Engineering and a 1st class M.Tech in Hydrology/Water Resources/Hydraulics. Applicants should possess a minimum of two years of relevant experience and ideally have cleared NET/GATE (though relaxations apply for CFTI graduates). Strong practical skills in H&H modeling software (e.g., HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, Aquaveo WMS) and GIS are highly desirable. The position is well-suited for individuals keen on contributing to significant environmental projects related to intelligent river systems and clean water initiatives.

Important Considerations

Candidates lacking the specific M.Tech specialization or without the mandatory two years of relevant experience should not apply. Those unfamiliar with advanced hydrological/hydraulic modeling software and GIS applications required for this research-intensive role will find it challenging. Furthermore, individuals seeking a permanent government position should note this is a contractual appointment for a defined project duration.

Career Impact

Working as a Junior Research Fellow at IIT Delhi, a premier Indian technical institute, offers significant academic and research prestige. This project, linked with the National Mission for Clean Ganga, provides an excellent opportunity to engage in impactful environmental research. While a contractual role, it offers invaluable experience in a specialized and critical domain, enhancing future career prospects in academia, research, or highly specialized consulting roles related to water resources and environmental engineering.
