Best-Fit Profile

This role is ideal for highly qualified engineering or science graduates (B.E./B.Tech, M.Tech/M.E., M.Sc.) with strong academic records and a valid GATE score (where applicable) who are passionate about research and development in Deep Learning within Healthcare. Candidates interested in pursuing a self-sponsored PhD at IIT Ropar while working on a critical ICMR project will find this opportunity particularly appealing. Those with prior experience in Deep Learning, biomedical data/image analysis, strong programming skills (Python/PyTorch), and research publications are strongly preferred.

Important Considerations

Individuals seeking a permanent government position or guaranteed long-term employment should not apply, as this is a temporary, project-based role with a 5-year project duration and initial one-year appointment. Those requiring institutional financial support for PhD studies will also find this unsuitable, as the PhD program is self-sponsored. The very limited number of vacancies (one post) makes it highly competitive, so candidates who do not meet the stringent essential qualifications or have no research inclination should reconsider.

Career Impact

Working at IIT Ropar, a Centrally Funded Technical Institute of national importance, offers significant academic and research prestige. This role provides an excellent platform for individuals to contribute to a national-level ICMR project, enhancing their research portfolio and potentially leading to a PhD from a top-tier institution. While the position is contractual, the association with IIT Ropar and a significant research project offers valuable experience and networking opportunities for future academic or research careers.
