Educational Qualification

Essential Qualifications:

  • MBBS degree from an NMC/MCI recognized university or institute.
  • Compulsory rotating internship must have been completed strictly after 07.09.2024.
  • Valid registration with the Delhi Medical Council (DMC) is mandatory on the date of interview.
  • Candidates must not have completed more than 1 year of Junior Residency (regular or adhoc combined) in any recognized hospital/institution (in case of non-availability of fresh candidates, those with 1 year JR experience may be permitted).

Age Limit & Relaxations

Maximum age limit is 30 years for General candidates as on the date of walk-in interview (08-09-2026). Standard age relaxations for SC/ST/OBC apply as per Delhi Government guidelines.

Selection is conducted through a direct walk-in interview procedure:

  1. On-Site Registration: Application forms are issued from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM on 08-09-2026 at the Administrative Block (5th Floor), JPCH. Original MBBS degrees, DMC registration, internship certificates, and testimonials are verified on the spot.
  2. Personal Interview: Eligible candidates appear before the hospital interview board. Assessment evaluates clinical acumen, emergency management skills, and internship experience.
  3. Medical Examination: Selected candidates must report before the JPCH medical board within 2 days of receiving the offer letter. Appointments are on an adhoc basis for 89 days, extendable with a mandatory 1-day break up to 1 year.

Jag Pravesh Chandra Hospital (JPCH) is a high-volume Delhi Government multi-specialty secondary care hospital located in Shastri Park, East Delhi. Junior Residents are deployed across acute clinical rotas including 24x7 Emergency/Casualty wards, Intensive Care Units (ICU), Outpatient Departments (OPD), and inpatient general wards. Work shifts are demanding and high-intensity, involving direct patient resuscitation, triage, basic minor surgical procedures, and night duty rosters under the guidance of Senior Residents and Specialists. Hostel accommodation within hospital premises is mandatory for selected candidates subject to room availability.

Posting & Transfer Policy

The position is purely on adhoc basis for an initial duration of 89 days. Extensions are granted with a mandatory one-day break after each 89-day spell, up to a maximum cumulative tenure of 1 year, contingent on satisfactory performance appraisal and department HOD recommendation or until regular candidates join.

Adhoc Junior Residency does not confer permanent government absorption. However, completion of junior residency fulfills essential clinical experience requirements for post-graduate residency (MD/MS/DNB) counseling, state public service commissions, and senior medical officer openings in central/state health services.

  • One-Year Cumulative JR Cap: Applicants who have already completed more than 1 year of Junior Residency (regular and adhoc combined) across any government or recognized institution are ineligible, unless fresh candidates are unavailable on the day of interview.
  • Strict In-Person Application Window: Physical application forms are distributed only between 9:00 AM and 10:00 AM on 08-09-2026 at the 5th Floor Administrative Block. Candidates arriving after 10:00 AM will be disqualified.
  • Dual Practice Absolute Prohibition: Selected candidates must submit an undertaking that they are not practicing in any private clinic, nursing home, or other health care facility during their tenure at JPCH.
