Educational Qualification

Applicants must possess the following minimum qualifications as of 2026-09-01:
  • Accountant: Graduate and Intermediate pass of CA/ICWA with basic computer proficiency and SAP-FICO.
  • Technician (Survey): ITI in Survey or Diploma in Survey.
  • Technician (Sampling): B.Sc.
  • Technician (Laboratory): B.Sc. in Chemistry/Physics/Geology.
  • Assistant (Materials): Graduate with Mathematics (or) B.Com. with basic computer proficiency and SAP-MM.
  • Assistant (Accounts): B.Com. with basic computer proficiency and SAP-FICO.
  • Stenographer (English): Graduate in any stream with a certificate in Shorthand (80 wpm English) and basic computer proficiency.
  • Assistant (Hindi): Graduate with Hindi and English as subjects (OR) Degree in English with equivalent examination in Advanced Hindi, plus basic computer proficiency with Hindi.
  • Electrician: ITI (Electrical) or Diploma (Electrical) with a valid Wireman certificate.
  • Machinist: ITI certificate in Turner/Machinist/Grinder/Miller trade or Diploma (Mechanical Engineering/Manufacturing/Production/Tool & Engineering).
  • Technician (Drilling): ITI Certificate in Mechanic (Earth Moving Machinery)/Diesel Mechanic/Motor Mechanic/Fitter Trade or Diploma in Drilling Mechanical Engineering, plus a valid HMV License.
  • Mechanic: ITI Certificate in Diesel/Motor Mechanic/Fitter trade or Diploma (Mechanical Engineering/Automobile Engineering/Production Engineering), plus a valid HMV License.
  • Mechanic-cum-Operator (Drilling): ITI Certificate in Mechanic (Earth Moving Machinery)/Diesel Mechanic/Motor Mechanic/Fitter trade or Diploma in Mechanical/Automobile Drilling Engineering.
  • Junior Driver: 10th Class Pass with valid LMV and HMV Licenses.
  • Assistant (IT): Degree of BCA/BCS/BCCA/B.Sc. (Computer Science/IT/Computer Applications)/Bachelor of Information System & Management (BISM) OR Graduation in any stream with minimum 1 year diploma after graduation or PG Diploma in IT/Computer Science/Computer Applications.
  • Assistant (HR): BA/B.Com/B.Sc/BBA/BBM/BSW with basic computer proficiency and SAP-HCM.

All degrees/diplomas must be from an Indian University/Institute recognized by AICTE/Government of India/UGC. ODL degrees are permissible where applicable.

Age Limit & Relaxations

Maximum age limit for UR/EWS candidates is 30 years. Age relaxations are applicable as per Government of India guidelines:
  • SC/ST candidates: Up to 5 years.
  • OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) candidates: Up to 3 years (valid certificate issued on or after 2026-04-01 required).
  • Persons with Disabilities (PwD): Up to 10 years for General PwD, 15 years for SC/ST PwD, and 13 years for OBC-NCL PwD.
  • Ex-Servicemen: As per Government of India guidelines.
  • Retrenched ex-contingent workmen of MECL: Up to 20 years.

Syllabus & Exam Pattern Overview

What is the examination structure? Mode of test, total marks, duration, and negative marking rules.

The selection process includes a Written Test, Document Verification, and Skill Test/Trade Test. The Written Test carries 100% weightage.

Written Test Cut-off Marks:
  • UR/OBC-NCL/EWS: 50%
  • SC/ST/PwD: 45% (with relaxed standard as per Government Guidelines)

Candidates clearing the written test will be called for Document Verification (ordinarily in a 1:7 ratio per vacancy), followed by a qualifying Skill Test/Trade Test. The final merit list will be based on Written Test marks.

Application Procedure

Interested and eligible candidates are required to apply online through the MECL website's career section. The application portal will be accessible from 2026-09-12 to 2026-10-11.

Application Steps:
  • Visit the official MECL website: www.mecl.co.in.
  • Navigate to the 'Careers' section under the 'Advertisement Notices & Results' tab to find the application link.
  • Before filling the online application, ensure you have scanned copies of your passport-size photograph and signature in JPG/JPEG format ready.
  • Register and fill in all mandatory details accurately as per the instructions on the portal.
  • Candidates must possess a valid e-mail ID and mobile number, which should remain active for at least one year as all important intimations will be provided via email. Regularly check your email for communications from MECL.
  • Candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC (NCL)/EWS/PwD/Ex-SM categories should carefully select their category, as changes will not be allowed later.
  • Do not apply more than once for the same post. Multiple applications will lead to rejection, with only the application having the higher 'Application Number' being considered.
  • After successful submission, candidates are advised to take a printout of the system-generated application form (with payment details if applicable) and retain it for future reference.
  • Candidates are not required to send printouts of their online applications.

Application Fee & Category Concessions

An application registration fee of Rs. 500/- is required for General, OBC, and EWS candidates. This fee is not applicable for SC/ST/PwD/Ex-Serviceman/Departmental candidates.
