Best-Fit Profile

This role is ideal for dynamic, young professionals with a B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering and at least one year of post-qualification experience in government, PSU, research, or relevant industrial sectors. Candidates with an M.Tech, research experience, published papers, and familiarity with manufacturing, capital goods, or heavy engineering will be highly regarded. It suits those seeking a challenging, policy-focused contractual role within a Central Government Ministry, particularly individuals who excel in analytical tasks, project evaluation, and technical advice.

Important Considerations

Individuals without a B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent, or those lacking the minimum one year of post-qualification experience, should not apply. This is a contractual position with a specific tenure, so those seeking permanent government employment or extensive medical benefits should reconsider. The age limit of below 32 years as of March 1, 2026, is strict, making it unsuitable for older candidates.

Career Impact

Working as a Consultant (Young Professional) in the Ministry of Heavy Industries offers significant prestige and exposure to central government policy-making. While contractual, it provides an excellent platform for contributing to national industrial development, enhancing one's professional profile, and gaining invaluable experience in high-level government operations. The role involves contributing to public policy for the manufacturing sector, project proposals, and technical advice, offering strong potential for future career growth in both government and industry. However, the single vacancy makes selection highly competitive.
