The National e-Governance Division (NeGD) is an independent business division operating under the Digital India Corporation, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology. NeGD plays a pivotal role in supporting the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) with Programme Management and the implementation of e-Governance projects at both Central and State levels. It spearheads various initiatives under the Digital India Programme, focusing on providing digital infrastructure, governance, and services on demand, and empowering citizens digitally through initiatives like DigiLocker, UMANG, and OpenForge. NeGD also supports Central Line Ministries and State Government Departments on e-Governance projects, assists in technology management, strategy formulation, and the implementation of emerging technologies like AI and Blockchain, while facilitating digital diplomacy and creating mass awareness for digital schemes and services.
