Best-Fit Profile

This Junior Research Fellow position at NIT Calicut is ideal for recent M.Sc. (Physics/Applied Physics/Electronics/Atmospheric Sciences) or B.Tech. (Engineering Physics) graduates who are GATE/NET qualified and possess a First Class degree. Individuals aspiring for a career in research, particularly in atmospheric science and climate impact studies, and those keen on developing programming skills in MATLAB, Python, or LabVIEW, will find this role highly suitable. Final semester students are also encouraged to apply.

Important Considerations

Candidates who do not meet the essential educational qualifications (M.Sc./B.Tech. with First Class and GATE/NET qualification) should not apply. Those seeking permanent government employment or significant immediate career progression may find the contractual, project-based nature of this role (1-3 years) unsuitable. Applicants unable to secure a 'No Objection Certificate' from their current employer, if applicable, also face a dealbreaker.

Career Impact

Working as a Junior Research Fellow at the National Institute of Technology Calicut (NITC), an institute of national importance, offers a strong foundation in academic research. While the position is contractual and project-specific, it provides valuable research experience and networking opportunities within a prestigious academic environment, significantly boosting prospects for higher studies (Ph.D.) or future research roles in relevant fields. The project's focus on atmospheric science and climate impacts aligns with current global research priorities.
