Best-Fit Profile

This role is ideal for highly motivated postgraduate candidates holding an M.Sc. in Life Sciences or related disciplines, with at least 60% marks, who have successfully qualified a national-level eligibility test like CSIR-UGC NET or GATE. Individuals with a keen interest in dengue research and practical experience in virology (BSL2 level), mice handling, and advanced laboratory techniques (flow cytometry, western blot, PCR) will find this position particularly suitable. The project duration of one year, extendable, fits those looking for focused research experience or a stepping stone to a Ph.D.

Important Considerations

Candidates seeking permanent government employment should not apply, as this is a project-based, contractual position with a limited initial duration. Those who do not meet the essential educational qualifications (M.Sc. with 60% and national eligibility test qualification) will not be considered. Individuals without a genuine interest in biomedical research, particularly infectious diseases like dengue, may find the role less engaging.

Career Impact

Working at the Regional Centre for Biotechnology (RCB), an institution supported by the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Government of India, and UNESCO, offers significant prestige and exposure. This JRF position, funded by DBT, provides an excellent opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research on dengue infection, enhancing a candidate's research profile and laboratory skills. It serves as a valuable experience for future academic or research careers, including pursuing a Ph.D., within a reputable scientific environment.
