About Staff Selection Commission

The Staff Selection Commission, under the Government of India's Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances & Pensions, Department of Personnel and Training, is responsible for recruiting candidates to various Group ‘B’ and Group ‘C’ posts across different Ministries, Departments, Organizations, Constitutional Bodies, Statutory Bodies, and Tribunals of the Government of India.

Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

  • For Junior Statistical Officer (JSO): Bachelor’s Degree in any subject from a recognized University or Institute with at least 60% Marks in Mathematics at 12th standard level; OR a Bachelor’s Degree in any subject with Statistics as one of the subjects at degree level.
  • For Statistical Investigator Grade-II: Bachelor’s Degree in any subject with Statistics as one of the subjects from a recognized University or Institute. Candidates must have studied Statistics at the Degree Level in Part-I, Part-II, and Part-III, or in all six semesters of a three-year degree course.
  • For All other Posts: Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized University or equivalent.

Candidates appearing in their final year of graduation can apply but must possess the essential qualification as on 2025-08-01.

Age Limit Details

Age relaxation is permissible beyond the upper age limit for various categories:

  • SC/ST: 5 years
  • OBC: 3 years
  • PwBD (Unreserved): 10 years
  • PwBD (OBC): 13 years
  • PwBD (SC/ST): 15 years
  • Ex-Servicemen (ESM): 3 years after deduction of military service from actual age, as on 2025-08-01.
  • Defence Personnel disabled in operation during hostilities: 3 years
  • Defence Personnel disabled in operation during hostilities (SC/ST): 8 years
  • Central Govt. Civilian Employees (rendered 3+ years regular & continuous service): Up to 40 years of age
  • Central Govt. Civilian Employees (SC/ST, rendered 3+ years regular & continuous service): Up to 45 years of age
  • Widows/Divorced Women/Women judicially separated (not remarried): Up to 35 years of age
  • Widows/Divorced Women/Women judicially separated (SC/ST, not remarried): Up to 40 years of age

How to Apply

Candidates must submit applications online via the new SSC website (https://ssc.gov.in) or through the mySSC mobile application (downloadable from Google Play Store).

Key Steps:

  • One-Time Registration (OTR): Candidates who have not completed OTR on the new website (https://ssc.gov.in) must do so. The earlier OTR on ssc.nic.in is no longer functional.
  • Aadhaar Based Authentication: Candidates are advised to opt for Aadhaar Based Authentication during OTR.
  • Live Photograph Capture: The application module requires capturing a live photograph (without cap or spectacles, with a clear frontal view of the face) during the application process. Pre-existing photographs are not allowed and will lead to rejection, unless Aadhaar Based Authentication is used.
  • Signature Upload: Upload a scanned signature in JPEG/JPG format (10-20 KB), with dimensions of 6.0 cm (width) x 2.0 cm (height). Blurred or miniature signatures will be rejected, unless Aadhaar Based Authentication is used.
  • Submission: Submit the online application well before the deadline of 2025-07-04 (23:00 hours) to avoid last-minute issues.
  • Application Correction: A 3-day window (2025-07-09 to 2025-07-11) will be provided for corrections/modifications to the application form, with applicable charges.

Candidates are advised to regularly check the SSC website for updates.

Application Fee

  • Application Fee: ₹100/- (Rupees one hundred only).
  • Exemptions: Women candidates, Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD), and Ex-servicemen (ESM) are exempted from fee payment.
  • Payment Mode: Online through BHIM UPI, Net Banking, or by using Visa, Mastercard, Maestro, or RuPay Debit cards.
  • Online Fee Payment Deadline: 2025-07-05 (23:00 hours).
  • Application Form Correction Charges: ₹200/- for the first correction, and ₹500/- for the second correction. These charges are applicable to all candidates irrespective of gender/category and are non-refundable.
