Educational Qualification

Eligibility Criteria for Legal Apprenticeship:
Educational Qualification: 3-year LL.B. or 5-year Integrated Law / LL.B. course approved by the Bar Council of India (BCI).
Passing Year: Candidates must have acquired the requisite law qualification during or after the year 2022.
NATS Registration: Mandatory registration on the National Apprenticeship Training Scheme (NATS) portal with a valid NATS Student ID.
• Candidates who have already undergone or are currently undergoing apprenticeship training under the Apprentices Act elsewhere are not eligible.

Age Limit & Relaxations

The age of candidates should be between 18 to 28 years as on 31.03.2026. Upper age relaxation admissible as per Government of India guidelines for SC, ST, and OBC candidates.

Legal apprentices work directly under the Chief General Manager (HRD/Legal) and the in-house Legal Cell, handling vetting of international procurement contracts, EPC agreements, joint venture pacts, consortium MoUs, arbitration briefs under the Arbitration and Conciliation Act 1996, RTI applications, and compliance with the Companies Act 2013. The working environment is corporate, professional, and intellectually stimulating, offering hands-on exposure to high-value international public procurement and corporate dispute resolution.

The apprenticeship training is strictly for a fixed period of one (1) year under the Apprentices Act, 1961 (as amended). Does not confer any right, claim, or liability on TCIL for regular absorption or employment. Stationed at TCIL Bhawan, Greater Kailash-I, New Delhi.

Upon successful completion of the 1-year apprenticeship, apprentices receive the National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC) via the NATS portal. The exposure to PSU corporate legal operations, contract vetting, and public tender arbitration serves as a high-value credential for recruitment as Executive Legal Trainee / Legal Officer in Central PSUs (BHEL, NTPC, ONGC, PowerGrid) and corporate law firms.
