The Junior Research Fellow (JRF) will be embedded in the School of Mechanical Sciences and the School of Interdisciplinary Life Sciences at IIT Goa under Principal Investigator Dr. Sreenath Balakrishnan. The research focuses on cellular mechanobiology and biomechanics under a DST-sponsored project titled 'Cell and nuclear response in a uniaxial stretcher with micropatterns recapitulating native tissue morphology' (Project No. 2026/EMR/SB/096). Daily responsibilities involve hands-on experimental wet-lab work including mammalian cell culture, micropatterning of flexible substrates, confocal laser scanning microscopy, traction force microscopy (TFM), atomic force microscopy (AFM), and molecular assays. The fellow will also collaborate on quantitative image analysis, computational modeling, and data synthesis, interacting closely with interdisciplinary researchers across bioengineering and mechanical engineering.

The place of posting is the IIT Goa campus located at Farmagudi, Ponda, Goa (at the transit campus in GEC Complex). JRFs completing two years of satisfactory tenure on sponsored projects are typically eligible for elevation to Senior Research Fellow (SRF) with enhanced fellowship (₹42,000/- per month + HRA) as per DST norms.
