Selected Project Nurses will join the Department of Paediatrics at JIPMER, Puducherry, an autonomous Institute of National Importance (INI) under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India. The role is embedded in the ICMR-funded ESCHAR Trial ('Efficacy in Scrub typhus of Combination therapy in Children versus Azithromycin or Doxycycline monotherapy: a double-blind Randomized control trial') led by Principal Investigator Dr. Narayanan P. Daily responsibilities involve clinical screening of pediatric patients presenting with acute febrile illnesses, obtaining informed consent from parents/guardians, administering blind randomized therapeutic interventions, continuously monitoring pediatric patients for adverse drug reactions and clinical endpoints, maintaining Case Report Forms (CRFs), and coordinating with central diagnostic laboratories. The position entails rotational shift duties including day and night hospital coverage.
