Best-Fit Profile
This role is ideally suited for highly qualified researchers holding a postgraduate degree in Biological Sciences (PhD desirable) with substantial hands-on experience in molecular biology, CRISPR/Cas9 gene editing, and epigenetics. Candidates with expertise in ChIP-seq, DNA methylation profiling, mammalian cell culture, and bioinformatics will find this position a perfect fit. It's an excellent opportunity for individuals seeking to contribute to an ICMR-funded project within a prestigious national research institution.
Important Considerations
Individuals lacking a postgraduate degree in Biological Sciences or the specific practical experience in advanced molecular biology techniques mentioned (CRISPR/Cas9, ChIP-seq, cell culture) should not apply. Those seeking permanent government employment will find the contractual and time-bound nature (initially one year, extendable up to three years) unsuitable. Lack of research publications for PhD candidates, though desirable, could also be a disadvantage.
Career Impact
The National Institute of Immunology (NII), an autonomous institution under the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India, is a premier centre for advanced immunological research. This position offers a significant opportunity to work on a high-impact, ICMR-funded project related to cancer research. While contractual, it provides invaluable experience and a strong addition to a researcher's profile within a highly reputed scientific environment, fostering potential for future growth in research careers.
