The West Bengal Board of Primary Education is a body established under the West Bengal Primary Education Act, 1973, responsible for primary education and the direct recruitment of Special Education Teachers in primary schools across West Bengal.

Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

Candidates must possess the educational and training qualification for Special Education Teacher in Primary School as prescribed by the Central Government (F. No. 3-5/2021-1S.18 dated 10.06.2022 and subsequent amendments).
Candidates must have a specific subject of the medium of instruction of the school as a first, second, or third language at the Secondary or Higher Secondary (12th grade) or equivalent academic level as an elective or optional subject.
Candidates must have obtained the necessary training for teaching Children with Special Needs as mandated by Government and by NCTE/RCI for a primary teacher.
A valid TET Certificate is required.

Age Limit Details

Minimum Age: 20 years as on 1st January of the advertisement year.
Maximum Age: 40 years as on 1st January of the advertisement year.
Upper age limit is relaxable for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Other Backward Classes, and Persons with Disabilities candidates as per extant norms of the State Government.
Special Educators/IED Coordinators working under Paschim Banga Samagra Shiksha Mission (PBSSM) and those in Govt. recognized Special Schools may apply up to 55 years of age.

The online application portal will be available from 06:00 pm on November 12, 2025, until 11:59 pm on November 25, 2025. Candidates should click on the link "Application for Special Education Teachers in Primary Schools, 2025" on the website to apply. The specific mode and time for application will be detailed in the official advertisement or public notice.

Application Fee

Application fee is non-refundable and will be determined by the Board. Candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, or Physically Challenged are exempted from paying the application fee.
