Educational Qualification

MBBS with Post Graduate Degree/DNB/Diploma or equivalent in concerned specialty (Obstetrics & Gynaecology / General Surgery) from a recognized University/Institute as per Residency Scheme. In case of non-availability of MD/DNB candidates, candidates who have completed 02 years of clinical experience in the concerned department will be considered on an ad-hoc basis. Candidate must be registered with the Delhi Medical Council (DMC) or must have applied for DMC PG registration on or before the day of interview. Candidates must not have completed 3 years of Senior Residency (candidates with 3 years tenure considered only under relaxed norms if fresh candidates are unavailable).

Age Limit & Relaxations

Maximum age limit is 45 years as on the date of interview pursuant to Order No. F.No.DHF&W/Q015/57/2016-HR-Medical-Secy(H&FW)CDno#11245060/1502-08 dated 26-11-2020. The upper age limit is relaxable up to 5 years for SC/ST and 3 years for OBC (Non-Creamy Layer belonging to Delhi only) candidates.

Selection is purely on the basis of merit determined through the Walk-in-Interview. Eligible candidates must report at the Office of Medical Director, Burari Hospital, Kaushik Enclave, Burari, Delhi – 110084 on any scheduled Friday between 30/10/2026 and 20/11/2026 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM for document verification. Entry is strictly permitted up to 11:00 AM. A panel of wait-listed candidates will be maintained for 6 months or until fresh recruitment is notified.

Burari Hospital is a 768-bedded Delhi Government hospital functioning since 2020 (initially dedicated COVID facility) and expanded into comprehensive general non-COVID healthcare services in 2022. It is equipped with a 50-bedded ICU, state-of-the-art operation theatres, automated laboratories, and dedicated oxygen supply plants catering to over 10 lakh urban and rural citizens in North Delhi. Senior Residents in OBG and General Surgery manage acute casualty admissions, high-volume labour ward and emergency obstetric care, elective and emergency laparotomy/surgical procedures, and regular night on-call duties.

Initial appointment is on an ad-hoc basis for a period of 44 days or till a regular candidate joins, extendable up to a maximum cumulative tenure of three years under the Residency Scheme upon satisfactory work and conduct certification from the concerned Head of Department (HOD) and candidate request.

Completion of 3 years of Senior Residency meets the eligibility benchmark prescribed by NMC and UPSC/DSSSB for appointment to faculty posts (Assistant Professor) or Specialist Grade clinical positions in government medical institutions.
