Under the sponsored research project GAP-3022 titled 'Designing Biogas and Composting Plants For Municipal Solid Waste Treatment', the Project Assistant-I supports scientists and technical officers in the day-to-day operation of decentralized anaerobic digesters and aerobic windrow composting units. Daily tasks involve field collection of municipal wet waste fractions, sorting and shredding, measuring volatile fatty acids (VFA), alkalinity, total solids (TS), volatile solids (VS), and pH in the wet chemistry laboratory, monitoring biogas flow meters, gas composition (CH4, CO2, H2S) using portable gas analyzers, composting temperature logs, and assisting in technical data compiling. The atmosphere is hands-on, laboratory-intensive, field-oriented, and safety-focused.
