Educational Qualifications:

  • Level-2 (Group 'C'): 12th (+2 stage) with minimum 50% marks in aggregate (50% not required for SC/ST/ESM/PwBD and graduates), OR 10th pass + ITI/NAC approved by NCVT.
  • Level-1 (Group 'D'): 10th pass OR ITI OR National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC) granted by NCVT.

Mandatory Scouts & Guides Criteria: President (Rashtrapati) Scout/Guide/Rover/Ranger OR Himalayan Wood Badge (HWB) in any section; active membership of Scouts organization for at least 5 years; and attendance in at least 2 National/All-India Railway events plus 2 State-level events.

Age Limit & Relaxations

Age reckoned as on 01.01.2027:

  • Level-2 (Group 'C'): 18 to 30 years (UR: 18-30, OBC: 18-33, SC/ST: 18-35).
  • Level-1 (Group 'D'): 18 to 33 years (UR: 18-33, OBC: 18-36, SC/ST: 18-38).
  • Age relaxations applicable for Railway employees, PwBD (10 years), Ex-Servicemen, widows/divorced women, and Course Completed Act Apprentices (CCAA).

Recruitment comprises a 100-mark selection process:

  1. Stage-I Written Test (60 Marks): 60 minutes duration containing 40 objective questions (40 marks) and 1 essay-type question (20 marks) on Scouts & Guides activities and General Knowledge. Minimum qualifying mark is 40%. Negative marking of 1/3rd for wrong objective answers.
  2. Stage-II Certificate Assessment (40 Marks): Evaluated based on National/Jamboree events (10 marks), State rallies (10 marks), Specialized courses (10 marks), and District rallies (10 marks).
  3. Document Verification & Medical: Candidates up to 5 times the vacancies called for DV, followed by medical examination at Railway Hospital in 1:1 ratio. (For Clerk-cum-Typist posts, typing test of 30 wpm English or 25 wpm Hindi required within 2 years).

Level-2 recruits serve as Junior Clerks or Accounts Clerks in modern administrative offices at Garden Reach, Kolkata. Level-1 recruits serve across divisions in Kharagpur (West Bengal), Adra (West Bengal), Chakradharpur (Jharkhand), and Ranchi (Jharkhand) as Pointsmen, Track Maintainers, or Workshop Assistants. Employees under Scouts & Guides quota are expected to actively lead Bharat Scouts & Guides railway district contingents, civil defense drills, passenger crowd management during major regional festivals (Durga Puja, Rath Yatra), and disaster relief camps.

  1. Visit the official website of RRC/SER (www.rrcser.co.in) and navigate to the "Online/E-Application for Scouts & Guides Quota /2026-27” link.
  2. Click on the "New Registration" link and fill in personal details such as Name, Father's name, Date of Birth, Community, e-mail Address, and Mobile number. Upon submission, an e-mail/SMS will provide a registration number and password.
  3. Log in using the provided registration number and password.
  4. Follow the instructions to complete the registration process step-by-step. Upload scanned copies of Photograph, Signature, Left Thumb Impression (LTI), self-attested certificates for date of birth, education/technical qualifications, caste (SC/ST/OBC/EBC/EWS), income certificate, self-declarations for OBC and minority communities, and Scouts & Guides achievements.
  5. Fill in all mandatory fields of the application form.
  6. A Unique Application Number will be generated upon submission. Candidates are advised to save this number for future reference.
  7. Submit the completed application form and take two printouts for your records.
  8. Candidates must keep their registered mobile number and email ID active throughout the recruitment process for communication.
