Educational Qualification

Candidates must possess a Ph.D. degree in Chemistry or have submitted their doctoral thesis and be awaiting the final Ph.D. award (with formal proof of thesis submission and pending viva/defense). Candidates must demonstrate evidence of high-quality research. Preference is accorded to applicants with specialized expertise in Synthetic Organic Chemistry, Supramolecular Chemistry, Origins of Homochirality vs. Heterochirality, Biomaterials, or Hydrogels and Organogels.

The Research Associate-1 will be embedded at DST's Nodal Center at IISER Tirupati, dedicated to the development and production of key starting materials (KSMs), active pharmaceutical intermediates, and critical raw materials required by the Indian healthcare and pharmaceutical sector. Under the guidance of Prof. Santanu Bhattacharya and Principal Investigators Dr. Balaraman Ekambaram, Dr. Kiran Kumar Pulukuri, and Dr. Gopinath Purushothaman, the RA will perform advanced synthetic organic chemistry, supramolecular assembly, organogel/hydrogel formulation, and process optimization. The research environment at IISER Tirupati features cutting-edge instrumentation (high-field NMR, HRMS, single-crystal XRD, HPLC) and requires high technical autonomy and scholarly publication output.

The position is based on-site at the permanent campus of IISER Tirupati in Yerpedu, Tirupati District, Andhra Pradesh. Initial tenure is 7 months, renewable periodically subject to satisfactory research performance until the completion of the DST-funded project (Project Code: 30123145). It is purely temporary and co-terminus with the project, carrying no claim for permanent absorption in IISER Tirupati or DST.

Pay Scale & Monthly Remuneration

Monthly fellowship of Rs. 58,000/- + 10% HRA with Ph.D. certificate; Rs. 42,000/- + 10% HRA for candidates who have submitted their Ph.D. thesis.

Rs. 58,000/- p.m. + 10% HRA (Rs. 63,800/- total) for candidates who produce their Ph.D. degree certificate. For candidates whose Ph.D. defense/degree is awaited (thesis submitted), fellowship is Rs. 42,000/- p.m. + 10% HRA (Rs. 46,200/- total).
