NHM Assam Recruitment 2026 – Apply Online for Medical Officer MBBS (1-Year Compulsory Rural Posting)

Under the Health & Family Welfare Department, Government of Assam and the National Health Mission (NHM), Assam, newly graduated MBBS doctors who have passed from the state medical colleges (GMC Guwahati, AMC Dibrugarh, SMC Silchar, JMC Jorhat, TMC Tezpur, FAAMC Barpeta, DMC Diphu, LMC Lakhimpur, DMC Dhubri, NMC Nagaon, NMC Nalbari, KMC Kokrajhar) undergo mandatory One-Year Compulsory Rural Posting. Appointees are stationed across Primary Health Centres (PHCs), Community Health Centres (CHCs), First Referral Units (FRUs), and Model Hospitals located in rural, riverine (char areas), tea garden belts, and remote hill districts (Dima Hasao, Karbi Anglong). Medical Officers manage outpatient departments (OPDs), emergency triage, maternal and child healthcare (MCH under Janani Shishu Suraksha Karyakram - JSSK), institutional deliveries, national disease control programs (National Vector Borne Disease Control, Tuberculosis - NTEP), and immunization drives. The clinical experience is intense, highly rewarding, directly serves underserved rural communities, and fulfills the compulsory government rural service bond required for obtaining the permanent State MBBS degree completion certificate and state quota weightage/incentives in NEET-PG examinations.

Strictly a one (1) year fixed contractual tenure under National Health Mission, Assam. Monthly remuneration is fixed at ₹38,500/- per month. Doctors who complete the tenure are awarded the official Rural Service Completion Certificate from the Mission Director, NHM Assam.

Upon successful completion of the 1-year rural bond tenure, medical officers receive the mandatory bond release certificate from the Health & Family Welfare Department, Govt. of Assam, clearing them for permanent State Medical Council registration, regular Assam Medical Service (M&HO-I) recruitment under APSC, and eligibility for state in-service reservation / incentive marks in NEET-PG post-graduate medical admissions under Assam Medical Colleges (Regulation of Admission to PG Courses) Rules.
