Educational Qualification

Educational qualification requirements for Health Inspector Grade-II at Thanjavur DHS:

  • Must have passed Higher Secondary (12th Standard / +2) with Biology, or Botany and Zoology.
  • Must have passed Tamil as a subject at the SSLC (10th Standard) level.
  • Must possess a two-year Multi-Purpose Health Worker (Male) [MPHW(M)] / Health Inspector (HI) / Sanitary Inspector (SI) course training certificate offered by recognized private institutions, trusts, universities, or deemed universities (including Gandhigram Rural Institute) granted by the Director of Public Health and Preventive Medicine (DPH&PM), Tamil Nadu.

Age Limit & Relaxations

Candidate's age is calculated as on 01.09.2026. Minimum age is 18 years; upper age limit is up to 50 years for reserved and priority categories in accordance with Tamil Nadu Public Health and NHM guidelines. Health Inspectors (Grade-II) under the Thanjavur District Health Society are deployed across 6 Urban Health Wellness Centres (in Thanjavur Corporation, Kumbakonam Corporation, and Pattukkottai Municipality) and 11 Rural Health Sub-Centres across Patteswaram, Thondarampattu, AN Puram, Konulampallam, and Thiruvonam blocks. Daily responsibilities include field surveillance for vector-borne diseases (dengue, malaria, chikungunya), water quality chlorination monitoring, tracking immunization coverage, sanitation inspections, and reporting to the Primary Health Centre Medical Officer and DDHS.

Purely temporary engagement for an 11-month contract period under the National Health Mission (NHM). The notification explicitly states that the position will not be regularized or absorbed into permanent government service under any circumstances.
