Educational Qualification

Postgraduate degree in Public Health (MPH) / M.Pharm. / M.Sc. Epidemiology / M.Sc. Health Economics with 3 years of research or academic experience; OR MD / MS / MDS / Ph.D. in Pharmacy, Pharmacology, Public Health, Statistics, Epidemiology, or Health Sciences (or equivalent degree). Desirable qualifications include peer-reviewed first-author publications in Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analysis (SRMA), training in SRMA, workshop organization experience, fluency in English and Tamil, and expertise in R programming, STATA, or Python.

AIIMS Madurai is an Institute of National Importance established under the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana (PMSSY). The Department of Health Research (DHR) funded Technical Resource Centre (TRC) operates under the Centre for Evidence-Based Guidelines led by Dr. Gunaseelan R. The Research Associate-III plays a central methodological role in evidence synthesis: developing comprehensive literature search strategies across PubMed/Embase/Cochrane, undertaking study screening, data extraction, risk-of-bias assessments (RoB 2, ROBINS-I), conducting quantitative meta-analyses using R/STATA/Python, and drafting evidence profiles using the GRADE framework. The role involves intense desktop data synthesis, drafting national clinical guideline documents, and conducting training workshops for clinicians and policy-makers.

Posting & Transfer Policy

Appointment is strictly temporary and tenure-based for an initial period of 6 months. It is renewable annually subject to satisfactory performance evaluation by the Principal Investigator and extension/fund availability from DHR. The post is co-terminus with the TRC project. It confers no right, preference, or lien for absorption, regularization, or permanent appointment in AIIMS Madurai, ICMR, or DHR. A notice period of 1 month (or payment of 1 month salary) is mandatory for voluntary resignation, while the institute may terminate the engagement with 1 week's notice if performance is unsatisfactory.
