Work Culture & Environment

Office/fieldwork balance, duties, organizational environment.

AIIMS Bathinda is an Institute of National Importance under PMSSY, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India. The project "Implementation Research to Enhance Screening, Early Diagnosis and Initiation of Treatment for Oral, Breast and Cervical cancer in Selected Districts of India" is funded by ICMR and executed by the Department of Community and Family Medicine. Project staff work closely with district health authorities, primary health centres (PHCs), sub-centres, and tertiary oncology departments. Responsibilities include extensive community fieldwork across rural and urban Bathinda, conducting in-depth interviews, focus group discussions, health worker trainings, screening camps, and digital data entry using REDCap. The work culture is public health-oriented, socially impactful, and academically rigorous.

Posting & Transfer Policy

Initial posting criteria, zone preferences, transfer liability.

The posting is at AIIMS Bathinda (Mandi Dabwali Road, Bathinda, Punjab - 151001) with regular local field travel across Bathinda district. Initial appointment tenure is for 12 months, with an annual increment of 5% on initial emoluments, co-terminus with project funding. Appointment is temporary on ICMR project funds and does not confer any entitlement to regular appointment or permanent absorption at AIIMS Bathinda or ICMR.

Career & Promotion Ladder

Promotion timeline, seniority ladder, pay grade scaling.

Project-funded appointments do not feature standard government departmental seniority promotions. However, working on a high-profile ICMR implementation research project at an AIIMS institute provides prestigious research experience, making candidates highly competitive for regular scientist / technical officer positions at ICMR, AIIMS, WHO, and state health missions, or for postgraduate/Ph.D. admissions in public health.
