Educational Qualification

1. Casual News Editor (Hindi): Graduation from a recognized University AND Degree in Journalism (Hindi) or PG Diploma in Journalism (Hindi) / Mass Communication (minimum 1-year duration), OR 5 years reporting/editing experience in print or electronic media. Proficiency in Hindi language is mandatory.

2. Casual News Reader-cum-Translator (Hindi): Graduation from a recognized University with demonstrated proficiency in Hindi language, voice quality suitable for broadcasting, correct pronunciation, and voice modulation. Desirable: Experience in journalism/electronic media and knowledge of computer applications/typing.

Residential Requirement: Candidates must reside within the National Capital Region (NCR) of Delhi.

Age Limit & Relaxations

Candidate must be between 21 and 50 years of age as on the closing date of application (21.10.2026).

Selection is conducted in two progressive stages:

  1. Stage 1 - Written Examination: 100 Marks (Duration: 3 Hours). Evaluates General Knowledge, Current Affairs, Hindi Grammar, News Writing, Editing, and English-to-Hindi Translation. Minimum qualifying marks: 50%.
  2. Stage 2 - Voice Test & Interview: 100 Marks. Candidates qualifying the written exam are invited for Voice Quality/Modulation Test (for News Readers) and Professional Interview before the Selection Board. Minimum qualifying marks: 50%.

Final empanelment is based on composite merit in the written test, voice test, and interview, subject to verification of Delhi-NCR residential proof and credentials.

Engagement is strictly on casual/assignment basis as per News Services Division, All India Radio panel norms. Remuneration is paid on per-assignment/shift basis as per approved Prasar Bharati rate cards (typically subject to a ceiling of 6 assignments per month). Empanelment confers no right to regular appointment or absorption.
