Educational Qualification

Essential qualifications, experience and age criteria for Technician Grade II:
• Educational Qualification & Experience:
  (a) ITI Certificate in Diesel Mechanic with minimum one (1) year of documented experience in Marine Diesel Engine Maintenance; OR
  (b) Petty Officer (Mechanical Engineering) - PO (ME) of Indian Navy.
• Department / School: Kunjali Marakkar School of Marine Engineering (KMSME), CUSAT, Kochi.
• Age Limit: Preferably below 57 years and up to a maximum age limit of 62 years as on 01.01.2026 (suitable for ex-Navy personnel and veteran mechanics).
• Nature & Tenure: Appointment is on contract basis for a period of one (1) year, extendable up to two (2) years based on essentiality.

Age Limit & Relaxations

Candidates must be preferably below 57 years of age and up to a maximum age limit of 62 years as on 01.01.2026. Reservation rules and age relaxations are applicable as per Kerala State Government / University norms.

Selection is conducted through online application, document scrutiny, and practical trade test/interview:

Kunjali Marakkar School of Marine Engineering (KMSME) at CUSAT's Thrikkakara/Kalamassery campus is a Directorate General of Shipping (DGS) approved premier marine academy conducting B.Tech Marine Engineering and M.Tech programs. The campus houses an operational Ship-in-Campus facility, fully equipped full-mission marine engine simulators, and extensive marine workshop machinery. The Technician Grade II maintains marine diesel engines, auxiliary boilers, compressors, and pumps utilized for cadet practical training. Excellent technical environment with standard state university campus working hours and prestige.

Purely contractual appointment for an initial period of 1 year, extendable up to 2 years based on performance and departmental essentiality. Stationed at KMSME, CUSAT campus, South Kalamassery, Kochi.
