Work Culture & Environment

Office/fieldwork balance, duties, organizational environment.

National Institute of Technology Delhi (NIT Delhi), an autonomous Institute of National Importance under the Ministry of Education, hosts active advanced electromagnetics and applied physics research laboratories. Under the supervision of Dr. Vinay Shankar Pandey, the Junior Research Fellow joins an elite space technology research initiative sponsored by Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC), Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) under the RESPOND program (Project Code: RES-VSSC-2024-008): 'Meta-Material Based Matching Structures with Antennas at L & S Bands for Mitigating Radio-Frequency Blackout during Re-entry of Vehicle'. The fellow models hypersonic plasma sheaths, designs negative/near-zero permittivity metamaterial impedance-matching surfaces, develops circularly polarized telemetry S-band (2.2–2.3 GHz) and NavIC L-band (L1 & L5) antennas in ANSYS HFSS / CST Microwave Studio, and fabricates prototype arrays tested in simulated plasma chambers. The research is mission-critical to India's human spaceflight (Gaganyaan) and reusable launch vehicle (RLV) programs. The culture is research-intensive, aerospace-oriented, and demands high numerical simulation rigor.

Posting & Transfer Policy

Initial posting criteria, zone preferences, transfer liability.

Contractual research appointment for an initial duration of one (1) year, co-terminus with project funding. Immediate joining is required upon selection. Stationed at the Department of Applied Sciences, NIT Delhi, Plot No. FA7, Zone P1, GT Karnal Road, Delhi-110036.

Career & Promotion Ladder
