NIT Warangal Recruitment 2026 – Apply for Junior Research Fellow Post (ASM-SMST Project)

Essential Qualifications across multiple engineering and science disciplines (GATE NOT MANDATORY):
• Track 1 (UG/PG Engineering): B.Tech./B.E. in Metallurgical & Materials Engineering / Mechanical Engineering / Production Engineering / Aerospace Engineering / Materials Engineering; OR M.E./M.Tech. in Metallurgical & Materials Engineering / Mechanical Engineering or relevant specialization, with min 60% marks or 6.5 CGPA at both UG and PG (55% or 6.0 CGPA for SC/ST/PwD).
• Track 2 (Direct B.Tech./B.E.): B.Tech./B.E. in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering / Mechanical Engineering with minimum CGPA 7.5/10 (or 70% marks) for GEN/EWS/OBC-NCL (CGPA 7.0/10 or 65% for SC/ST/PwD).
• Track 3 & 4 (M.Sc. / M.Tech. Science & Materials): M.Sc. in Physics / Chemistry / Materials Science / Electronics / Nanoscience with or without M.Tech. in Materials Science / Metallurgy / Ceramic / Surface Engineering with min 60% marks or 6.5 CGPA (55% or 6.0 CGPA for SC/ST/PwD).
• Desirable Skills: Prior qualification in GATE/NET/CSIR/INSPIRE is preferred (not mandatory). Hands-on laboratory experience in vacuum arc melting, alloy casting, thermo-mechanical rolling/extrusion, wire-cut EDM, and characterization techniques (SEM, TEM, XRD).
• Project Mandate: Development and characterization of lightweight polycrystalline Titanium–Aluminum–Chromium (Ti–Al–Cr) high-temperature shape memory alloys (SMAs), analyzing effects of ternary alloying and grain refinement.

• General & EWS candidates: Maximum 30 years.
• OBC-NCL candidates: Maximum 33 years.
• SC / ST / PwD / Female candidates: Maximum 35 years.
